Request for Questions!

While the new Scoop Admin Guide isn't yet finished, I'm starting to think about one of the rather important sections... Frequently Asked Questions.

Got a question you think should be in the scoop admin FAQ? Post them here, and there's a pretty good chance it'll end up in the FAQ.

Answers are not required, but are appreciated :-)

FAQ #1 & #2 (none / 0) (#1)
by CaveMan on Mon Aug 18, 2003 at 11:00:28 AM PST

Why didn't you write this in (PHP|.NET|Python|...)

(I'm sure rusty must have an answer to this, serious or not...)

Hey, I've got an Idea! Let's rewrite scoop in (PHP|.NET|Python|...)!

Hey, go nuts! Let us know how it turns out.

Mike

Does scoop run on Apache 2 (none / 0) (#4)
by hulver on Tue Aug 19, 2003 at 06:59:55 AM PST

Seems to be a fairly frequently asked question.

The answer is "Yes, but ..."

Some things may be broken (file uploads are for definate at the moment). Also, you have to run CVS development versions of libapreq. Plus, it's not recomended to run mod_perl 2 on a production machine.

-- HuSi - It's what scoop's for.

I don't know Perl or PHP or mySQL... (none / 0) (#6)
by madefaction on Wed Aug 20, 2003 at 09:28:49 AM PST

...so how about a tutorial for creating a new box?  Show me how you use the $S object.  Show me how to get info from the database.  There is just too much to know about SQL and PERL and whatnot before I would be able to figure this stuff out on my own.
