The XClub site (http://xclub.homeip.net:8002) is designed to foster the formation of Extreme Day groups (see body for details) and to provide a forum for discussion of all things related to Extreme Programming.

XClub is a free, non-commercial site whose aim is to foster the formation of Extreme Days groups and provide a forum for group communication and discussion of all things related to Extreme Programming.

Answers to a few questions you might have:

1/ What are 'Extreme Day Groups'?

Based on the ExtremeTuesday (http://www.xpdeveloper.com/cgi-bin/wiki.cgi?ExtremeTuesdayClub) concept Extreme Day Groups are collections of like minded developers who meet once a week to work on a project using only XP techniques. Aside from being fun this is also an opportunity to experience XP - something you may not get to do in your work environment.

2/ Why would I need to use XClub for this?

Technically, you don't. The idea behind the site was to provide a discussion forum, a central location for formation of groups and a place where groups can compare experiences. As a bonus you get to post and read book reviews, links to XP sites and get your own online development diary.

3/ What's on the site at the moment?

Not much I'm afraid. This is a community driven site and needs a community to build content. I set up the site on the 'If you build it, they will come' concept - I'm in the process of gathering an Extreme Day group for the Brisbane CBD area, once that group kicks off I hope it provides the impetus for others to set up groups.

4/ Is this site limited to the Brisbane area?

Certainly not! Thanks to the wonders of the 'net there is no reason you couldn't start a group in Timbuktu and still use XClub as your main forum. Closer to home I'd like to see a Gold Coast group start up, given the number of developer positions I see in that area I imagine theres a big community of developers around.

5/ How do I start a group in my area?

Post a request on the site, send the link to friends and co-workers you think might be interested and go for it.

Regards,
Shane
