style sheets Feature Requests

How would I set up cascading style sheets for use within scoop? This seems a very important step that would allow people to design rich and varied user interfaces. The easier it is to set up scoop from a designers point of view the more people that will use it. Has anyone given this consideration or started to implement a solution?

thanks,

Bob

Just add the <link> tag to your stylesheet in the header block. I then also went through and removed some of the extraneous stuff out of the templates and special pages to make the pages load slightly faster. For instance, if I set the font color in the stylesheet, I didn't also need to do it on every single page.

You also need to go through the blocks and the site controls and replace font tags with div's. There is also seems to be a built in style called .light which is used a lot of places, save yourself some time and just add the ref to your css file

How I did it... (none / 0) (#4)

I'm not a HTML wiz (far from it, gimme code any day) but the way I did it was by creating a new block with the style sheet info in it and just tossing that block reference in the header; with some more boxing magic I can take the users' display preferences and apply them to the style that way, and I might re-do the user prefs to separate the font face and font sizes into a more style sheet friendly way. One thing I did notice is that there are still items (such as the special pages) that have a hardcoded formatting to them, where you can only change the colours but not the actual layout of the things and that requires some coding. Although in my recent Scoop hacking I did manage to get a few more things moved into templates and blocks, but it's some mighty ugly hacks (not suited for general consumption :D).
