Feature Request: Calendar Feature Requests

I'm doing a few different Scoop sites now, and all of my hostees have independently requested a calendar mechanism whereby events with dates could be added, and a box on the side could list upcoming events that would expire them properly as they pass. It would be a bonus if users could submit events in the same manner that they submit stories, so that event annoucements are a kind of story, but also have an attached date that gets tracked.

Before I jump in there and start hacking, I wanted to find out if other folks have considered or done this already. Anyone? Beuller?

PS. Welcome back, scoop.k5.org!

I'd love to help make or recieve that patch... (none / 0) (#1)

I always have to add a link to a separate calendaring system. Having one linked into scoop would make the whole place seem more contiguous and less like somone found five cool things and duct-taped them together.

If this gets underway soon, let me know, I'd love to pitch in with my mediocre perl skills.

Sounds good. (none / 0) (#2)

I like the idea. It could probably all be implemented using boxes, and creating a table or two in the database. If you have any questions on implementation, email scoop-dev @ lists.sourceforge.net We're going to try to start using that list more for discussions of implementation details, coding problems, etc. We'd like to keep scoop-help more announcements and problems with setting up scoop.

Thanks for using and deciding to work on scoop!
