An easy way to stop people complaining about moderation Feature Requests

Just a few quick thoughts.
  1. It would be nice if you could click something to prevent the moderate submissions box from displaying on the front page.
  2. It would be nice if you could click something to prevent comment ratings from being shown.

Many are constantly bitching that their comments are rated unfairly or that shit stories are being voted up. It would make life easier if people just had the option not to have to look at it.

Also, too often stories are discussed to death in the mod queue and once they hit the section are ignored. Not sure if there's a way around this. However I think the moderation system needs to change in such a way that stories are not stuck in the queue for weeks on end. One way would be to have a time limit on how long something can remain in the mod queue before being dumped.

Drop.org's open submission queue (4.00 / 1) (#1)
by Dries on Tue Jan 23, 2001 at 03:47:56 AM PST

For drop.org's open submission queue we apply the following logic:

There are thresholds for each story category or section: this makes our submission queue more adaptive in that you can set individual post, dump and expiration thresholds for each section according to the story type and urgency level: some section do not really "expire" and stay interesting and active as time passes by, whereas news-related stories are only considered "hot" over a short period of time.

Furthermore, we have an "expiration thresholds" which is expressed in terms of votes whereas the post and dump threshold are expressed in terms of score/points. If more then x votes have been casted and the story has not been posted or dumped it "expires". Like that, enterfornone, stories won't sit in the queue forever.
