Somewhat in response to my previous anouncement (see K5 comment) I'm pleased to announce that, after much travail and on this first day of the new millenium, there is a source code release of "drupal" available under terms of GNU General Public License (GPL). Drupal is a content management and discussion engine written from scratch (using PHP) for drop.org and hence suitable to setup a news-driven community or portal site just like Scoop, PHP-Nuke, ThatWare, Slash, SIPS and so on.
The source code of the first release candidate for version 1.00 is available at:
|
The file includes the complete source code for the core engine as well as extra modules to extend functionality. This snapshot is exactly the same as what is used for drop.org.
More information (such as documentation) can be found at the drupal site: We plan to set up a community for developers to share feature enhancements, ideas and modules on a website that will also allow developers to download the source code, receive technical support and collaborate with other developers. For the time being, patches can be mailed to dries.buytaert@pi.be or posted on drop.org (category: "Drop.org - Drupal") until mailing lists have been set up.
